The Fowey Estuary is regarded as one of the most charming and unspoilt parts of England’s South Coast. This lively Cornish town has strong connections with the author Daphne du Maurier who spent much of her life in the area and gives her name to the popular yearly literary festival. Narrow winding streets of medieval cottages showing glimpses of the river below littered with yachts, interesting little shops and galleries and a bustling quayside create a special atmosphere sure to attract visitors of all ages and interests.
Fowey is a pleasant combination of lively bustle and ancient narrow backstreets hiding antique shops and galleries.

After six years of visiting Fowey, Beverley had “the stupid idea” and fell in love with La Folie. She and her architect husband transformed the townhouse into its current blend of modern and vintage, adding the sun deck and some decorative panache, but keeping the Victorian charm. It’s the family’s holiday home too and you’ll find the basics ready when you arrive. Beverley doesn’t want her guests to have to go and buy tea bags just after they’ve shown up. She’d rather you treat it like your own home.
